In Elbasan, one of Albania's oldest cities, that colour is the legendary Red of Onufri. To understand it, one must first walk through the walls of the Fortress, the historic heart of the city, continuously inhabited for nearly two thousand years. Here, among Roman stones, Ottoman houses, churches and mosques hidden behind ancient gates, history is not displayed as it is in a museum—it continues to live.

In the early hours of the morning, as sunlight gently touches the centuries-old walls and the narrow streets remain wrapped in silence, Elbasan reveals its most authentic character. It does not seek to impress. Instead, it invites you to observe. The longer you stay, the more you realise that this city has always been a meeting point of cultures, faiths and ancient trade routes linking the Adriatic with the East.

“Yet the journey towards Onufri continues beyond the city, into the rolling hills of Shpat. The landscape changes, life slows down and nature becomes part of the experience. Forests, springs and green hills embrace one of Albania's most precious artistic treasures.”
